Arjes Impaktor 850: power, mobility and efficiency in one compact shredder

The Arjes Impaktor 850 is designed for those who want to combine maximum processing capacity with mobility, ease of use and efficient operation. Thanks to its compact design, tracked undercarriage, powerful drive system and well-thought-out maintenance concept, this mobile shredder can be used on a wide range of terrains and for various applications.

In this blog post, we take you step by step through some of the key features and functionalities of the Arjes Impaktor 850. To conclude, we have included a video that perfectly illustrates all of these features in action.

The first images immediately highlight one of the key advantages of the Impaktor 850: high mobility combined with a compact design.

The machine is equipped with a tracked undercarriage, allowing the shredder to move easily even on uneven ground. The hydraulic buggy system provides high mobility and manoeuvrability on challenging terrain.

This allows the Impaktor 850 to move easily across a variety of working environments without compromising stability or versatility.

A mobile shredder must not only be powerful, but also practical for everyday use. That is why great attention has been paid to accessibility for servicing, maintenance and cleaning on the Impaktor 850.

With the push of a button, the hydraulically operated engine hood opens. This provides spacious and direct access to the drive unit and the entire engine compartment. The filters and the powerful CAT C9 diesel engine or Volvo Penta D13 engine are clearly visible inside the compartment. Depending on the configuration, the machine is equipped with one of these two engines.

The drive system delivers an impressive 340 kW of power, with the combination of a powerful engine and an efficient drivetrain ensuring low fuel consumption and high efficiency.

Thanks to the hydraulically operated hood, maintenance and cleaning work can be carried out more easily and quickly. This not only improves ease of use, but can also help minimise machine downtime.

After closing the hood, another remarkable feature comes into focus: the extremely low noise level. Thanks to the newly developed intake system, the machine has a noise level of just 80 dBA. This makes the Impaktor 850 not only powerful, but also remarkably quiet for a machine of this type.

An important component of the Impaktor 850 is the screen basket. It is located beneath the shredder shafts and helps determine the desired grain size of the end product. The size of the openings determines which material particles can pass through the screen and which need to be further reduced.

The screen basket is also designed to make maintenance and replacement as simple and convenient as possible.

The Impaktor 850 features a special service position in which the machine’s upper structure can be tilted backwards, while the substructure remains firmly connected to the chassis.

Interchangeable screen basket

In this position, the entire screen basket can be easily slid out along a rail system. The shafts do not need to be removed for this.

This makes maintenance, cleaning and replacement of the screen basket significantly easier and faster. This helps minimise costly downtime and allows the machine to be put back into operation more quickly.

During the shredding process, situations may arise where material accumulates or causes a blockage. The Impaktor 850 is therefore equipped with a movable discharge belt. The discharge belt can move forwards and backwards, allowing blockages to be cleared quickly. This contributes to smooth operation and enables the operator to intervene quickly when necessary.

Underneath the machine, we get a glimpse of the heart of the shredder: the screen basket and the two asynchronously rotating shafts.

A particularly practical feature is that the shafts can be reversed using the remote control. When material gets stuck, the operator can intervene without having to operate the machine manually.

The discharge belt of the Impaktor 850 is not only functional, but is also designed for efficient material discharge. The conveyor belt can be hydraulically folded in and out and has a discharge height of 4 metres. This allows the processed material to be discharged directly into, for example, a Walking Floor trailer.

The belt can also be operated using the remote control, allowing the operator to easily adjust the position of the machine and the discharge belt to suit the working conditions.

The key dimensions of the discharge belt are:

  • Discharge height: 4,000 mm
  • Width: 1,200 mm
  • Configuration: includes overband magnet

Above the discharge belt is the overbelt magnet, which can also be hydraulically folded in and out.

The height of the overbelt magnet is adjustable, allowing it to be optimally positioned for efficient metal separation.

The overbelt magnet is included and designed for effective separation of ferrous metals (FE) from the processed material. When the discharge belt and magnet are in operation, the material is efficiently conveyed while metals can be removed from the material flow.

This makes the Impaktor 850 particularly interesting for applications where a high degree of metal separation is required.

Finally, we come to one of the most important components of the machine: the shredding unit.

The Impaktor 850 features a large feed hopper and a two-shaft shredding system. The shafts can rotate asynchronously relative to each other and offer four different operating programs. Depending on the material being processed, the machine can be equipped with different types of rotors:

  • Tangential shafts
  • Star shafts (4-pieces)
  • Star shafts (6-pieces)
  • Paddle shafts

The shredding chamber is also equipped with an optimised quick-change cassette, allowing the machine configuration to be adapted to the specific application and the material being processed.

The combination of the two-shaft system, different rotor configurations and various operating programs results in a versatile shredder suitable for a wide range of applications.

The Arjes Impaktor 850 combines several features that can make a real difference in practice: high mobility, powerful performance, easy maintenance access, quick blockage removal and efficient material discharge.

From the hydraulic tracked undercarriage and hydraulically opening hood to the easily removable screen basket, remotely controlled shafts and hydraulically adjustable overbelt magnet: every component is designed with efficient and practical operation in mind.

With its 340 kW CAT C9 or Volvo Penta D13 engine, compact design and flexible shredding configurations, the Impaktor 850 offers a combination of power and ease of use that makes it suitable for a wide range of applications.
